I was in a tearing hurry and couldn't click pictures of the entire process, but then it's not rocket science, and very easy to make! This was made for breakfast, but it could make a great snack with tea.
Ingredients:
Green peas............................2 full cups. If you're using frozen ones, thaw them first.
Ginger..................................1/2 tsp finely grated. We need just a hint for added flavour
Green chilli..........................acc to taste and heat factor, deseed and chop very fine or mince it
Spring onion........................1 (use both white and green parts) chopped small. If you don't have spring onions use 1 tbsp of finely chopped regular onion
Potato..................................1, skin and boil. This reduces starch.
Corn starch.........................1 n 1/2 tsp if using 2 cups peas and 1 potato
A few sprigs green coriander chopped
Salt to taste
Chaat Masala.....................(optional) It could be sprinkled over the tikkis or it could be used in the tikki mixture
Boil the peas in salt water. Drain out water completely. Mash well. Skin the potato and boil. Mash the boiled potato well so that there are no lumps. Now add all the ingredients except garnish items. Make balls according to desired size and flatten to form a tikki. Heat olive oil in a non-stick pan and shallow fry. Do not deep fry.
These make great bun-tiks! (A small buttered bun with a tikki) I had some fruit chaat on the side.
